The attorneys at Steuer, Escovar & Coleman Co. LPA devote a large portion of their practice to helping local Cleveland, Ohio disabled claimants recover Social Security disability (SSD) benefits and supplemental security income (SSI) benefits. The federal Social Security Act provides for two programs that award disability benefits to individuals who are unable to work because of a severe and permanent medical condition. Title II of the Act authorizes the payment of SSD benefits to individuals who worked for at least a specific minimum amount of time before they became disabled. Title XVI of the Act authorizes the payment of SSI benefits to disabled individuals whose income and assets fall below a specified level. To show that you are disabled and entitled to benefits, you must be unable to do any kind of productive work because of a physical or mental impairment, or a combination of both, which is expected to last for at least 12 months or result in death. We find it gratifying to help disabled individuals recover the benefits they desperately need to improve their quality of life.
